Started working today, it’s pretty nice. I would rather relax and stay home, but I guess I need to earn something so I can pay for my food and other expenses while I’m out here. We got a nice new tv over the weekend and a copy of NFL Street 2, those two coupled can waste many hours….
Currently I’m watching the Piston’s while trying to install Civic Space on malicoat.org just so there’s something there, and so I can further prove my MySQL skills (…non-existent…)
I made it to New York on Wednesday, after about a 10 or so hour drive. It wasn’t too bad, the last stretch (of 278 miles) was pretty boring but I made it. Before I left I burned 3 or 4 cds for the trip, mostly Pumpkins, some Muse, and some random others. So far there’s not been much to do yet, I won’t start working until Monday, so basically I just lounge around all day, much like I did at home. I’ve been searching for a skatepark to visit, but there’s really nothing out here. All the parks are small, indoor private parks that are pretty pricey. I don’t like paying for a session, especially when I go alone, because if I’m not entirely in the mood to skate the stuff they have it’s a wasted 12 bucks. I may skate some street, but that would take someone with some knowledge on where to skate.
I’m listening to the latest re-created Screen Savers, these guys are great. It really shows how huge television productions are just wasted capital. I’m guessing the guys get almost the listenership as they had when they were on tv, but this way it costs them next to nothing. Just more decentralization in the tech sector. Very cool.
And the moblog is successfully set up. Including images!

Lately I’ve been going on a few tours of local parks and I just wanted to make a quick list about some of my favorites.
Bay City– Pretty new in my book, we used to hit up b.c. 3-4 times a week last summer, not so much now. A nice bank to flat rail, stairs are good, there’s a nice wide bank too. Unfortunately no box or manny pad of any kind, and a bit to transition-centered for my street tastes.
Clio– If the drive was more than 10 minutes I’d never go there. The half-pipe and mini ramp are fun to mess around on, though the material isn’t too great. The pyramid and bank ramps are fun to grab off of. Again, no box…
Midland– Definitely my favorite park currently because of the loooong manny pad and sweet banks. There’s not many lines like other parks that are encased in quarters, but there’s some good rails and boxes. More street and banks than transitions which is a plus for me, but the transitions there are are nice.
East Lansing– When I was down at State I’d go to Ranney 3 or 4 times a week. It’s a 10 minute bus ride from my dorm and was well worth it. The scene is incredible, many of the kids are amateur or easily could be. With that kind of atmosphere it’s either intimidation or inspiration, depends on how you feel the day of I guess. There’s a wicked bowl in the corner of the park as well… I’m guessing 13′ :
